TV-14•2026•1h 3m•Talk Show · Hip-Hop · Culture

Julia Beverly had a front-row seat to the rise of Southern hip-hop—and helped make sure its stories were told. The founder of OZONE Magazine sits down with Big Court to reveal how she created a platform that became a voice for the South when much of mainstream hip-hop media was overlooking the region. Julia opens up about her relationship with UGK legend Pimp C, why she took on the massive task of writing his biography, Sweet Jones: Pimp C’s Trill Life Story, and the personal stories she learned while documenting his life and legacy. She also discusses her relationship with Rap-A-Lot Records founder J. Prince and helping him tell his story through The Art & Science of Respect. From Pimp C and UGK to J. Prince, Rap-A-Lot and OZONE Magazine, Julia Beverly helped document an era that changed hip-hop forever.
